About Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia is the Australian Government agency responsible for attracting international visitors to Australia, both for leisure and business events. The organisation is active in 15 key markets and its purpose is to grow demand and foster a competitive and sustainable Australian tourism industry through partnership marketing. More recently, Tourism Australia has also returned to domestic tourism marketing activity to support industry through the current crises.

 

The Challenge

Tourism Australia identified a capacity issue within the research and strategy team, ad-hoc data requests were repetitive and could be solved with a self serve product. A solution was required to eliminate the immense amount of resources and time spent on manual reporting, and data extraction

 

The Solution

Providing an Automated Solution

An Azure Cloud solution incorporating Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL provided the infrastructure for the Power BI Reports. We were able to help deliver detailed analytics of bookings, searches, flights, and visitor surveys, providing instant insights to a range of staff from Analysts to C-Suite Executives.

 

The Outcome

Tourism Australia has been able to centralise, standardise and automate a range of data sources to help reduce reporting efforts allowing for additional time spent on strategic insights into domestic and international travel behaviour which is especially helpful to understand deep shifts in consumer demand and activity during COVID
